Mike Smith

I love Mike Smith's blogjournal. Not just the humor but the format! who would've though a planner/diary could be transformed into a sketchbook, pretty inspiring no? His comics cover topics of his daily life from illustration, to his dogs, his family and friends.

My Suitcase/Traveling Art studio

Before leaving to Geneva, I mentioned I was getting THIS traveling studio suitcase to take with me along with my parent's old suitcase. I was just asked what my opinon about the traveling studio was, well here is my response:

I didn't end up getting it for several reasons 1: I didn't want to take two suitcases, 2: I decided to not take my watercolor stretch board, is way too heavy and 3: I really wasn't taking a lot of art supplies.

So instead I got THIS "Ful" suitcase that I came across in Cotsco, but you can get it HERE and I LOVE IT!!.  Here are some pics of the suitcase I proudly own:

On the lower level is where I packed all my art supplies, which includes:
  • Watercolors
  • Watercolor palette
  • Watercolor paper
  • Prismacolor color pencils
  • Pencils
  • 2 Cameras: Digital and Polaroid
  • Brushes and Dip pens
  • Inks
  • 3 Sketchbooks
  • Drafting tape
It all fit nicely in the bottom level, maybe when I'm packed up again I'll share a picture.

ZEP

For the illustrator of the week, I though it would be nice to share the works of local artist ZEP, the signs that I shared HERE, where illustrated by him but he is famous for the comic "Titeuf". My cousin and her husband are big fan of his work and showed me where in their library I could access it, with my very basic french I was able to read most of it. It reminds me so much of my brother at that age and the adventures and trouble he and his friends will get into. Ah boys tsk tsk tsk :P

Go check out his website here: http://www.zeporama.com/

While there click on "Les Carnets" to see his awesome sketchbooks of his traveling :)
